**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Māori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Māori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Māori.
We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu.
As the Programme Manager, Mental Health & Addiction (MH&A) Transformation you will lead and manage a priority programme of work, in partnership with your national and regional mentally well colleagues and Te Aka Whai Ora. Together you will implement a MH&A transformation programme of work to radically improve Māori Health, eliminate inequities and implement the Oranga Hinengaro System and Service Framework.
**This role is based in Northland. You will need to be based in the region. Your location can be discussed at interview stage.**

- Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Māori and Pacific Peoples and groups.

When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a life-time change, which will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa for generations.
Our name, Te Whatu Ora, means ‘the weaving of wellness'. Whatu is the combining of people, resources, organisations, thoughts and actions for the betterment and wellbeing of all. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system.
We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Māori and ensures improved access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system - Māori, Pacific and Disabled People.
**Tō mātou whakahaere ki te tika, te rerekētanga, me te whai wāhi mai | Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion**
