The National Burn Centre at Middlemore Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Clinician Social Worker to join our specialist inpatient team. This designated role involves a mix of advanced clinical practice and leadership, working with both adults and children recovering from burn injuries.

Youll provide direct psychosocial support to patients and their whaanau, contribute to clinical leadership and service development, and help grow the capability of the wider social work team. Strong psycho-social assessment skills, critical thinking, and a patient-centred approach are essential, along with proven advocacy and communication skills.

Experience in burns, trauma, or related fields is preferred. A sound understanding of the social determinants of health, bicultural practice, and a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi are key to this role.

Were looking for someone who is proactive, adaptable, and collaborative, with a strengths-based and solution-focused approach. You'll also contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of best practice within this highly specialised service.

**Essential**:

- Registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB), with a current APC
- A minimum 6 years postgraduate experience in a relevant setting
- Experience from the child protection sector is beneficial
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to prepare social work and related plans (e.g. financial)
- Sound judgement and strong organisational skills
- Proven ability to manage risk and make complex decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences
- A full, clean, current driver's licence
