To ensure we can continue to provide the high level of expertise and service we are known for, we have the opportunity for a savvy Senior Policy Analyst to join us - in the Governance and Democracy Team (Wellington-based or Auckland-based). Mō te tīma | About our Teams The work our teams do ensures that the local government sector is functioning at its best. We work collaboratively to develop innovative and insightful policy solutions that will ensure the sector is well prepared for the future. We're focused on supporting a "one system" approach to ensure that our New Zealand communities, regions and economies (both local and national) thrive. In the Governance and Democracy team we have a particular focus on local government electoral, representation, and decision-making legislative policy. Examples of recent projects led out of the team include the Local Government Electoral Legislation Bill, Electoral (Lowering Voting Age for Local Elections and Polls) Legislation Bill, and the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Amendment Bill - as well as support for various matters of select committee business (local bills, members bills, and inquiries). We work closely with our partners in the local government sector and other government agencies on the formation of policy. We are preparing for the 54th administration and are looking for a keen Senior Policy Analyst to join our team. Mōu | About you As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will lead and own complex policy problems and areas, and be responsible for coaching and mentoring more junior analysts. You will also represent the Department on key forums and build relationships with the local government sector. You'll work alongside the team and build your skills as you tackle transformational projects, develop proposals and advise Ministers and senior leaders in the public sector.
