**Community Support Worker - Family & Whanau**
- **Permanent, Full-time (40 hours per week)**:
- **General working hours 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday to Friday**_(possibility for later hours and weekend work)_

- **Pay Equity**:$25.00ph - $30.00ph** _(Service falls under Pay Equity. Pay is determined by qualification and equivalence to the National Certificate of Health and Wellbeing L4)_

The Community Support Services Central - a specialist service within Ember - is responsible for engaging and supporting people who face challenges with their mental wellbeing. The aim is that all people can engage in their chosen community and achieve their fullest potential. This includes working with the individual as well as a commitment to work actively in partnership with family/ whānau, Community Mental Health Centres and General Practitioners.
The service promotes self-management and self-reliance for all in areas such as accommodation, transport, employment, self-care, personal and interpersonal skills to enable people to live as independently as they are able to in the community of their choice.
Our geographical area covers people living in Central Auckland, Waiheke Island and West Auckland. The service is for people who face low to severe mental health challenges who are finding it difficult to live in their community, or to reach their desired goals.
Our Registered Health Professionals/ Social Workers and Support Workers have a specialised and a wide range of skills applicable to the respective qualification, which include knowledge in communication skills, assessments, planning and implementation, psychiatric medication (including side effects) and a good knowledge of mental health disorders.

The successful applicant for this role will be an energetic and vibrant person with the experience required to work mainly within our Family and Whanau contract.
The role involves working with parents who are struggling with their mental health, as well as working with children of parents who have a mental health diagnosis. Core responsibilities will include serving as co-facilitator for our Kids and Youth Groups and mentoring youth one-on-one to support them to achieve their goals. Effective communication and a person-centred approach are vital for this role as you will be working alongside clinical teams and other community agencies to ensure a wraparound service to the people we support.

- Have/Working towards a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent
- Have the ability to work in a team environment and from a bicultural perspective.
- Be professional and have good boundaries and ethics.
- Have experience working in the area of mental health and/or addictions (alcohol and other drugs)
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
- Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship
- Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
