- **Purpose-Led Independent School**:
- **Help Shape the School’s Future**:
- **Excellent Teaching and Learning Environment**
**About the School**
Dilworth School was founded in accordance with the terms of the Will of early Auckland farmer and businessman, Irish-born James Dilworth, who died in 1894. The endowment was to be used to fund a boarding school for boys from good families whose circumstances may prevent them from fulfilling their full potential.
Over a century later, his remarkable legacy has provided more than 5,000 boys with a life-changing scholarship that includes free tuition, boarding, uniforms, sports fees, and music tuition.
The School has three campuses in Auckland: Years 7 and 8 at the Junior Campus, Years 9-13 at the Senior Campus and the Mangatawhiri Campus where Learning in the Outdoors is offered to all students at every year level. As of this year, the School’s Junior Campus welcomed day students at Year 7 level.
Supporting the development of the whole student is an integral part of the Dilworth experience and students are offered a multitude of opportunities, a strong pastoral care system, quality teaching and a modern boarding school environment. The sense of belonging and unity is very strong with its Christian faith being central to all parts of school life.
**About the Role**
The Head of Junior Campus reports to the Headmaster and is accountable and responsible for the culture, leadership, management, and day-to-day organisation and operation of Dilworth’s Junior Campus, along with other Senior Leadership specialists, across teaching and learning, pastoral care, and curriculum.
The role has a strong entrepreneurial focus with a remit for growing the School’s roll and strengthening the Junior Campus’ standing in the local community.
The appointment follows a three-year cross-campus redesign process covering programmes in Curriculum, Learning in the Outdoors and Well Being, and will play a key role in further embedding key initiatives in these areas.
Fostering strong and supportive internal and external relationships will also be a key feature with staff, parent and old boy communities, educational bodies, and New Zealand leaders in education.
**Skills and Experience**
The preference is for an experienced Principal; however, consideration will be given to those at Deputy/Assistant Principal level with superior leadership attributes and a track record of innovation and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, curriculum development and student wellbeing.
Experience may be from a state, independent, or state integrated environment in Junior, Middle, or Senior boys, girls’, or co-education Schools.
Those who stand out will have a strong alignment to Dilworth’s purpose and values and an understanding of Special Character Schools based on the Christian faith.
**Benefits**
- Superior onsite accommodation provided.
- Competitive remuneration package.
- Excellent learning environment.
