**Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity**

Our Development Planning team facilitates Auckland Transport's role in assessing a wide range of development projects, including major subdivisions, commercial developments, retirement villages, apartment buildings, and shopping centres. As the Development Planner, you will:

- have a role in reviewing consent proposals for such development proposals, while collaboratively working with a diverse range of multi-disciplinary teams across Auckland Transport, to provide expert advice to Auckland Council and developers
- take the lead on a comprehensive transport specialist response on development proposals that includes relevant specialist commentary covering all transport modes and neighbourhood and street design.
- Diverse projects and ability to work with multi-disciplinary co-workers

It is a fast paced and exciting area of planning, full of opportunities for people keen on tackling some key challenges, trying new things, and making big decisions for the benefit of future Aucklanders.
**Ko koe tēnei | About you**
- An understanding of transport planning, and/ or land use planning, supported by a qualification in, Engineering, Planning or related discipline
- An understanding and knowledge of urban planning policies, street and neighbourhood design, the Resource Management Act, local government legislation, council practices and constraints
- Experience in engaging and partnering with a range of stakeholders and a strong focus on customer service
Experience in showing initiative and taking responsibility for identifying solutions/opportunities and delivering results
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
