We are seeking a strong leader and experienced Manager to join our In-Process Quality Control team based at our beautiful Dunsandel site
Your role oversees the day-to-day operational activities of a diverse IPQC team of the Laboratory which covers liquid milk, UHT, plant support, calibration of laboratory and plant equipment. You will work closely with your team to ensure operational performance objectives are met. Consistent high quality, measured as high RFT and short and reliable TATs is first priority, cost efficiency (cheaper, faster, better than external labs) comes second.
You will also work closely with the other team members of the Laboratory and the Head of Laboratory Services to make sure the overall targets of the Lab are met and the Synlait operation is supported with a short and reliable total lot release time, high quality of testing and good technical support.
Additionally, this role will focus on driving operational excellence in your team by working with your team to identify areas for continuous improvement and leading the implementation of these using tools such as LEAN operation and 5S.
You will work closely with Manufacturing, Technical leads and quality manager of the lab to ensure required standard of quality is maintained, the operational activities are always up to date and accreditations are maintained.
This role will assist the Head of Laboratory Services in areas including KPI reporting, invoicing, CAPEX management and the budget setting and review in the areas of operational expenses.

Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification required
- Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in a laboratory with ISO17025 certification or Manufacturing
- At least 5+ years’ experience in leading, coaching and motivating staff
- Competent technical and manufacturing quality assurance knowledge
- At least 3 years’ experience in collaborating with various functional roles within the organization to solve problems, develop solutions, develop strategies and execute action plans to resolve critical issues
- Knowledge of cGLP and cGMP
- Hands on experience in a food testing laboratory, dairy being preferable
- Experience in FOSS, liquid milk and UHT advantageous
- Experience with a LIMS system is preferable
- Proven ability in identifying and implementing improvement initiatives
- A thorough understanding quality requirements in a laboratory
- Hands on experience on dealing with H&E issues and writing SOPs
