Join our team as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher - Call Handler and become an integral part of our dedicated Ambulance Communications South team based in the Justice Precinct in Christchurch City We are looking for individuals with valuable life experience and a strong background in customer service to join our team of compassionate and highly skilled professionals.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Receive emergency calls and provide calm, empathetic, and efficient assistance to callers in distress
- Collect crucial information quickly & accurately for the system to prioritise and dispatch the appropriate medical resources
- Offer pre-arrival medical advice and support to callers in emergency situations
- Maintain professionalism and composure under pressure, ensuring a high standard of service delivery
**Ideal skills and experience**:
- Previous experience in a customer service role, where resiliency and professionalism were essential
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively gather information and relay instructions
- Ability to handle high-stress situations and remain professional in a calm and composed manner
- Great attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in using computer systems, working in a dual-screen environment and typing accurately
- Willingness to work our shift pattern of 12hr shifts, 2 days on followed by 2 nights, this can include evenings, weekends, and holidays, as Hato Hone St John operates 24/7, 365 days per year
