**Night shift role**: 11PM to 7AM - 3 days on, 3 days off

Here at Nelson Hospital an important part of making this happen relies on having an awesome Patient Support & Security team on site at all times. And that's where we think you could have a great role to play.
We are looking for a person who can assist our teams to ensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment for the for the Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Nelson Hospital. As a Patient Support and Security Worker you will focus on working with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whānau accessing our services.
Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
You will be the type of person who works in a rational and calm manner and who has the skills and experience to effectively de-escalate difficult situations and promote a safe and therapeutic environment. You will be able to relate well to patients and their visitors. You will be able to work with the clinical team and follow directions.
Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred. However, this is not essential as training will be provided.
**Additionally you will have**:
- empathy and a non-judgmental attitude towards patients and members of the public
- the ability to relate with ease to people from a variety of different cultures and backgrounds
- the ability to recognise and pass on issues that may affect patient welfare

You are required to provide proof that you have completed your primary course of NZ approved Covid-19 vaccinations.
