At Christchurch City Council we are committed to providing water and wastewater infrastructure to accommodate growth in a sustainable way, and we are looking for a strategic thinker with excellent engineering expertise to be the Senior Planning Engineer - Growth to help us achieve our goal. In this fast paced role you will lead the planning of water and wastewater infrastructure to accommodate growth and to reduce wastewater overflows to the environment. You will also support the planning for technology and infrastructure improvements necessary to achieve community outcomes. You will have the opportunity to lead the development of strategic plans, master plans and business cases while providing expert advice on water supply, wastewater networks and projects that will shape not only yours but the city's future. You will provide technical support, guidance and direction to the team and professional planning and engineering advice to internal clients, developers, consultants, members of the public and at external forums.

You will hold an Engineering degree in Civil or Natural Resources Engineering combined with at least 10 years' comprehensive and demonstrated experience in water supply and wastewater infrastructure development planning. You will have a working understanding of the Resource Management Act, especially concerning water and wastewater implications. You will demonstrate a high level of initiative and self-motivation, while also being a collaborative team player. Your verbal and written communication skills will be a strength and you will feel confident in dealing with a wide variety of people from technical experts to members of the public.
