**Mo tenei turanga mahi | About the role**
We are looking for two experienced Senior Advisors Communications and Educations to be a part of the Electoral Commission's Communications and Education team. You will join a team at a busy and exciting time as we prepare for the next general election and focus on increasing awareness and understanding of the electoral system, enrolling and voting.
Key tasks in these two roles include strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, proactive and reactive media engagement, and support for our media spokespeople. You will contribute to the team's objectives by ensuring clear, engaging and accurate information is delivered to our stakeholders including the media, and to the public.
You will also work on other communications delivered by the team. This involves helping to deliver public information campaigns, contributing to the Electoral Commission's online content, developing communications for internal and external stakeholders, and providing strategic communications advice. You will help to develop information that is relevant and accessible to all New Zealanders.
We have two fixed term roles available until 28 November 2026. One role is focused on strategic and stakeholder communications and the other on media engagement, both to start immediately. Please indicate your preference in your cover letter.

- Contribute to developing and implementing communications and public information campaigns.
- Contribute to developing initiatives and resources that increase voter awareness and understanding.
- Contribute to developing and delivering publications and resources for internal and external audiences.
- Building strong, collaborative, and productive relationships with key stakeholders (internal, external partnerships and providers).
- Provision of expert communications advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.
**Ko ng mea ka hiahiatia e koe kia angitu | What you'll need to succeed**
- A relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience, at least three years in communications or journalism
- Experience in public sector communications roles at a senior advisor level.
- Excellent writing skills and experience presenting complex information clearly and simply.
- Experience engaging with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, including M ori, Pasifika peoples, young people, new New Zealanders, and disabled people.
- Experience in planning, developing and delivering resources and publications for different audiences.
