Open Polytechnic is recruiting two Team Leads, Learning Design on a permanent basis to support learning designers in our assessment design and courseware improvement teams.

The role of Team Lead, Learning Design is to provide leadership, pastoral care, support and mentoring for learning designers involved in the development of pedagogically sound, technology enabled courseware for open, distance and flexible learning programmes.

With day-to-day line responsibilities for a team of learning designers, you will report to the Manager, Learning Development & Processes, Assessment Design, or Courseware Improvement as part of the directorate leadership group to ensure that quality courseware is designed and developed.

The preferred location for this position is at our Campus in Lower Hutt, but will be considered anywhere in New Zealand (Working from Home). This vacancy is currently open only to internal employees (kaimahi).

- Ability to provide leadership to your team
- Ability to plan and organise own and team members work
- Coaching and mentoring skills
- Understanding of courseware design and development approaches and processes, including in assessment
- Experience in building self-directed teams
- Well-developed communication skills with the ability to negotiate, clarify goals, and communicate information, concepts and arguments effectively
- Effective planning and organisation skills
- Understanding of and commitment to quality in online education at tertiary level
- An understanding of the current tertiary education sector in Aotearoa New Zealand (desirable)
