**Job Description**:
The Test Engineer is a dedicated resource to carry out the software, firmware and hardware testing and measurement of all Tekron products. The Test Engineer is responsible for making sure that all Tekron products or updates/releases have been fully tested and any bugs or issues have been identified and either resolved or documented. To be successful at this role the Test Engineer will need to make sure that all testing is done against the specifications in the right environment. The results of the tests, as well as the test plans and scripts, are all in order before, during and after each test. The Test Engineer will need to work with the developers and engineers in the team to ensure that deadlines are met and proactively communicate issues of any test work that will not meet agreed timeframes to the Development Manager so that projects are delivered on time.

Test is an integral part of the development team and planning for test is actively managed upfront before a project starts i.e. in the planning stage. The Test Engineer actively liaises with the developers and engineers through the development phases of work to ensure that the specification changes are managed and planned for in test.

Job Responsibilities
- Work with the developers and engineers to develop test plans and agree scope of the testing before development begins so that timeframes are realistic and that the whole team is committed to producing code or hardware that meets specification.
- Develop, implement, maintain and improve test processes, test sets, and test documents for Tekron products. If there are gaps in the test documentation it is required that the Test Engineer prepare a gap analysis to the Development Manager at least quarterly while there are gaps.
- Develop a plan and implement/develop automated test and QA procedures in conjunction with the software developers and engineers at Tekron. Liaise with the Software Engineers and Senior Software Engineer in defect risk assessment
- Develop testing scripts to ensure reported software bugs are recreated and resolved
- Maintain separate test environments in order for testing to be completed effectively. Implement tools that provide efficiencies in managing test plans or test sets. Provide the Development Manager with a business case for any unplanned spend.
- Working to improve our Contract Manufacturers Test Capability
- Liaise with the Manufacturing Relationship Manager to ensure any Test related improvement suggestions from the contract manufacturer are evaluated and implemented
- Perform annual review of the manufacturing test instructions and test procedures of all Tekron products. Then work with the Manufacturing Relationship Manager to ensure Tekron’s copies are synchronized with that of the contract manufacturer
- Ensure the test instructions and test system set up at the contract manufacturer are current and accurate by doing a check every 6 months
- If required, provide on-site test training and support to production personnel of the contract manufacturer
- Support the development of any test hardware and then any production floor implementation
- Prepare ECO documentation on test-related changes or firmware/software releases and manage these so the data in them is accurate and timely
- Prepare a 6 month plan of Long Term Soak Tests and publish quarterly updates of test results as they occur
- Submit monthly reports on Test to the Development Manager or as and when required
- Adhere to all company processes, policies and procedures with regards to health and safety, administration, quality and project management.
- Perform any other duties as required by Tekron Management
