We are looking for customer eccentric people to join our Sales and Service team as an Sales and Underwriting consultant. Your role is essential part of how we help New Zealanders build futures and protect what matters. You will develop and propose the best insurance solutions for our new and existing customers, partners and brokers.
You are the first point of contact for our customers primarily via the phone, where you will deliver positive experiences across our direct customers, partners and brokers, in an operational efficient way.

You'll receive all the support that you need to succeed in the role. The first 3- 6 months of your career with us will be based in our Auckland office during your training/nesting period, and when you're ready, you will transition to a work from home environment. The 18-month career pathway has been designed to give you the knowledge and skills to achieve within your role and develop in your career. The first three months you will build your knowledge of Insurance industry, Suncorp and product knowledge, with an emphasis on systems and customer service. We will introduce you to underwriting in these first three months. Between 4-18 Months we will be building on your knowledge as well as guiding you through the Underwriting academy.
We publish our rotas on monthly basis to give you the opportunity to plan your life outside of work. You will work 37.5 hours over a 7-day week, with the first shift starts at 7.45am Monday to Friday, and last shift finishes at 8pm. The shifts on Saturday and Sunday are between 7.45 to 8pm. The shift patterns on the roster are start at 8.45am
You working hours are 75 hours per fortnight (excluding unpaid meal breaks).
**Your key areas of focus will include**:
- Develop and propose insurance solutions for our new and existing customers for both existing and new policy inquiries
- You will ensure customer needs are understood, anticipated and fulfilled to provide the best solution
- Look for opportunities to list product and services awareness with our staff customers to grow brand ambassadors
- Each interaction is leveraged as an opportunity to add value to the customers and our business
- Building and maintaining relationships with our direct customers/partners, and brokers
- You adapt your approach based on the combination of interactions that may occur through the life cycle of each customer’s policy.
- Manage customer complaints in line with Suncorp NZ complaints framework to achieve a positive outcome
- Strive to deliver first contact resolution by fully utilising product, system & process knowledge, and soft skills to fulfil service requests from customers and partners in a timely and efficient way
- Provide a customer focused and profitable underwriting solution, with the support of the tools learnt from the underwriting academy
What you need to succeed:

- Confidence to communicate effectively and professionally to our brokers
- Strong analytical, attention to detail and good commercial decision-making ability
- Computer literacy and numeracy skills
