The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Health Protection Technical Advisor** to join our regional Compliance and Health Protection Team based in Tauranga. The primary purpose of the role is to provide technical expertise, advice and coordination in support of priority health protection areas, such as communicable diseases, including infection prevention and control.

The role will work alongside statutory officers and others from across the regional service to enhance health protection and public health expertise and engagement into the wider health system and across sectors.

**Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience**
- A relevant tertiary qualification and working knowledge of the health protection sector, particularly communicable disease and including infection control
- Outstanding relationship management expertise. Ability to work in complex environments with a wide range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and of the health sector and protection sector
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong experience in influencing people, leading work programmes, policy advice and facilitation, coaching, and mentoring staff
- Established relationship with iwi, hapū and other key stakeholders in the area
- Ability to practically champion and advance Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act 2022, Tiriti o Waitangi, equity and the 5 Principles of WAI2575
