**What we're looking for**

We're on the hunt for a senior communications advisor to join us at Te Whatu Ora - MidCentral (previously MidCentral DHB). If you're passionate about using your skills to help inform our community and improve health outcomes, then let's talk

**The opportunity**

Join our friendly team in a role where you can communication projects that make a real difference to our community. We're looking for someone with proven skills in media management, communications planning and relationship building.

You'll be working alongside a positive, experienced team, as well as stakeholders from different departments. There's also great opportunities to work on national projects and with comms people all over the motu through our Te Whatu Ora comms network, as we work together to transform the health sector.

This is a permanent, full time role that can offer flexible working arrangements.

**The skills we're needing**:

- Experience in interacting with media agencies and handling media responses.
- Able to create effective communications plans and strategies and implement them.
- Able to build and foster good relationships, both internally and externally.
- Able to work independently, but also able to help as a team player with colleagues and key partners.
- A minimum of at least three to five years experience in the field, and a relevant tertiary qualification is desirable.

**The extra skills we'd love to hear about, if you have them**:

- A knowledge and understanding of the health and disabilities services industry.
- Te Reo Māori.
- Experience acting as an advisor and working with senior management.
- Experience mentoring team members or in leadership roles.

**Who you'll be joining**:
MidCentral District employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatū, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Ōtaki districts. Our close-knit Communications team is based at Palmerston North Hospital, which services a total population catchment of 190,000.
