Our Hastings office is looking for a Project Engineer that will work proactively on project, task and/or contract management to support the delivery of a wide range of civil infrastructure projects in order to ensure that projects/programs are delivered successfully.

**Key responsibilities will include**:

- Support project delivery as construction contracts Engineer and fulfilling appropriately named roles within construction contracts.
- Support project delivery as task (larger complex projects) or project (small single discipline) manager.
- Support GHDs technical teams through constructability reviews and advice.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, and GHD Project Directors and Project Managers across New Zealand
- Understand the clients expectations and help manage the client interface. Responsible for the delivery of the construction phase project with appropriate EtC support to the clients and GHDs expectations
- Knowledge - keep knowledge and competencies current, guide staff and contribute to GHD Global Knowledge Base.
- Quality Assurance - Lead by example, delivery of high-quality reports, correspondence and other deliverables
- Duties
- Technical Delivery -support the investigation, design, procurement construction delivery phases of civil infrastructure projects including:

- Roads
- Earthworks/Walls
- Bridges
- Pump stations and rising mains
- Transmission gravity/pressure mains / networks
- Stormwater pipes and structures
- Act as Construction Engineer for civil projects
- Deliver high quality independent surveillance, verification and contract management and administration services to the projects.
- Accountable for construction phase project quality assurance, HSE and IMS performance
- Contract financial management and forecasting
- Drive and manage the Client Satisfaction of GHD, providing feedback and guidance to Project Directors/Managers as and when required.

**What you will bring to the team**:

- BE (Civil) or other relevant tertiary education, project and/or contract management experience
- At least 7 years relevant industry experience
- Developing understanding of aspects of the delivery of infrastructure projects, including the different contract forms, procurement methodologies and client drivers.
- Ability to develop, document and implement risk based construction management strategies on infrastructure projects
- Ability to manage and co-ordinate all phase of the contract administration and verification of civil infrastructure projects in terms of quality, safety and environmental issues and contribute to the development and documentation of quality management procedures to facilitate the effective delivery of projects to a high standard.
- Developing skills in the assessment and resolution of contractual matters for infrastructure projects.
- Appreciation of the commercial frameworks and financial drivers that exist in the construction industry, in particular, with construction contractors
- Negotiation skills with both contractor and client organisations in the resolution of contractual and performance issues on projects
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; with a specific emphasis on contractual directions, decisions and determination
- Good computer skills including the Microsoft office suite in particular MS Project
- Proven experience on multi-discipline projects.
