**Mō te tūnga | About the role**

The Community Alcohol and Drug Service (CADS) located at Hillmorton Hospital provides specialised clinical work with consumers experiencing co-existing alcohol and/or drug dependence and moderate to severe mental health needs along with consumers who require Opiate Substitute Treatment. We are seeking a Community Mental Health Nurse who will add value, expertise and energy to this stable and cohesive team. Our motivated and dedicated team works collaboratively with a consumer centred approach.

We pride ourselves on working as a team in collaboration and partnership with consumers and family/whanau. We strive to work within our philosophy to develop therapeutic, supportive and empowering relationships with consumers, to enable them to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.

**In this role, you will be responsible for**:

- Provide comprehensive assessment to consumers within the service;
- Case manage clients who are on Opiate Substitute therapy;
- Provide planned nursing care in partnership with the patient to achieve identified health outcomes;
- Provide appropriate health education to patients and family/whanau within a nursing framework;
- The maintenance and advancement of your own professional development and clinical knowledge

This role requires the following:

- The ability to work autonomously with a degree of flexibility to meet the individual needs of your clients;
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scope of practice is essential;
- Previous experience in alcohol and drug or mental health;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a caring and compassionate nature will see you excel in this area;
- Excellent time management skills to effectively manage your case load.
