Our newly established Languages Unit are responsible for identifying and delivering opportunities that introduce and revitalise Pacific Languages within our communities and across government, and the role of Principal Advisor, is pivotal in enhancing the fabric and culture of our Pacific communities and wider Aotearoa. As an experienced Principal Policy Advisor or maybe a seasoned Senior Policy Advisor who is ready to step forward in their career, you will bring vision and future thinking to the development of policy where systems and languages are your passion. We offer a great opportunity to bring your solid policy skills, critical thinking and strong writing skills into action through strong community engagement and linking these into future Policy development. Working in a high-performing team you will help shape and lead policy across government and communities through research and engagement. We are looking for skills, and experience in the following areas
- Linguistic background and solid experience in Pacific languages ideally within an education background
- Ability to form connections across government, and the Education sector that enables collaboration and focus on better outcomes for Pacific People around language revitalisation
- Leadership skills and experience in leading a team or leading projects
- Great written communication and verbal skills, with the ability to confidently communicate with a variety of audiences
- Solid understanding of the machinery of government and how to navigate it
