**About the Role**
As a key member of the directorate clinical and operational partnership, your role is to provide an environment that supports the delivery of safe, high-quality and effective health care within allocated resources to your directorate.
While the role reports operationally to the Operations Director, by working in a partnership model with the Operations Director, and Medical Directors that will foster strong inter-professional teams delivering high standards of care and are equally responsible for the success of the directorate. This role will provide professional and clinical advice to the Operations Director. The Nurse Director role will be provided with professional oversight and connection via the Office of Chief Nurse Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waikato.
The role will line manage the Nurse Managers who will support this role to ensure all components of Care Capacity Demand Management are understood implemented and monitored.

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Waikato provides health services in the Waikato region to a combined population of over 400,000 people, and tertiary-level services to the Midland region, with a population of over 840,000. Waikato Hospital in Hamilton provides the most specialised and complex medical care and is recognised as both a tertiary and accredited training hospital. **About you**
- Have competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Be able to demonstrate leadership experience in terms of managing complex dynamics associated with multi-professional groups.
- Assess and make effective decisions under pressure in complex situations and use your own judgement to problem solve.
- Understand how to use data to improve quality, performance and growth.
- Have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy within New Zealand.
- Demonstrate highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the capacity to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others.
**It is essential that you have**:
- Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
- A current practising certificate.
- A masters qualification.
- Expert level on the Nurses Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) or if appropriate has achieved senior nurse level on the Senior Nurses PDRP.
- 7+ years experience in leadership in a complex health-related environment with surgical and theatre clinical expertise.
