This is an amazing opportunity for the right person to join an established engineering company with great working conditions situated in Mount Roskill, Auckland, NZ, where they have been operating for over 40 years.
Heat Treatments are seeking a motivated Metallurgist / Materials Scientist / Materials Engineer to join our team.
This role has ownership of servicing clients' needs relative to materials engineering / metallurgy that is in line with Heat Treatments policies and procedures and client quality standards.
We are looking for someone who is a team player who works well with people from all backgrounds with a positive, can-do attitude.

Skills/Experience you will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in metallurgy / materials science or materials engineering.
- Relevant experience as a hands-on practicing materials engineer / scientist or metallurgist.
- Strong emphasis in servicing clients in a timely and professional manner
- Ability to utilise a range of techniques to identify fracture modes and loading conditions for fatigue, brittle fracture, ductile failure, wear and to determine likely causes and recommend prevention strategies.
- Identification of corrosion mechanisms, corrodents and causes of corrosion.
- Competent in microstructural analysis of metals and alloys, particularly steels, stainless steels, cast irons, and welds and understand structure-processing-property relationships, particularly for heat treated component.
- Proven problem solving abilities and critical thinking.
- Demonstrated written and oral skills
- Excellent report writing skills and proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel)
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision, manage own workloads and strong time management skills,
- High level of work ethics and communication skills
