Associate Technologist

**About the role**

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Technologist to join our talented and passionate New Product Development team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the scale-up of new liquid milk, cream and beverage products and delivering technical services that enable commercialisation, product improvement, and technical troubleshooting.

In this dynamic, hands-on role, you'll coordinate factory trials, develop specifications, and support manufacturing and quality teams with day-to-day product performance. Your work will contribute directly to both new customer opportunities and the continued success of our existing products.

Key responsibilities of this role include,
- Coordinate and execute new product development projects for commercialisation.
- Provide technical advice on plant, products, processes and ingredients to support business development initiatives and Synlait’s technology requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Synlait NPD team, plant and process engineers, category and sales, and project teams in the development, scale up, implementation and optimisation of new products.
- Coordination of scale up activities into Synlait Milk Limited production facilities including trial planning, product specification development, SKU master data setup, scheduling, sample management, trial evaluations, reporting and recommendations.
- Performance and trend monitoring for commercial SKUs (conformance to specification).
- Product maintenance post launch e.g. ingredient changes, artwork changes, support for Sales on customer enquiries, support for Quality on complaints, product and process optimisation.

**Skills and Experience**
- 1 - 3 years in a similar role within Dairy Technology, Engineering or Science field
- A tertiary qualification in Food Technology, Engineering or Science or a related field preferred
- Hands-on experience in UHT factory trials and food safety systems (HACCP, RMP) preferred
- A solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with excellent communication and planning skills
- Team player with energy, initiative, and a commitment to continuous learning
- A strong customer focus and a willingness to build collaborative relationships
