The Opportunity:
The primary purpose of the Risk Speciali will be to support the Head of Risk to provide timely advice and assurance to the Product & Vitality division.

The Risk Specialist will be responsible for working with senior management across the division to manage operational and compliance risks.

About the role:
- Draft monthly reporting to operational risk committees, divisional risk forums, and the CRO on risk and compliance related activities;- Lead, manage and deliver assurance over key controls, systems and models;- Manage and monitor key risk indicators;-
- timely completion of all risk related work including updates to the risk management system and Line 2 risk where required;-
- timely review of policies;-
- the identification, assessment and resolution of issues and incidents; and-
- activities required to develop a culture that promotes good customer outcomes and embed sound risk management practices.-
- Support delivery of Risk in Change assessments over key projects and change initiatives- Support and complete risk and control analysis & assessments;- Update systems with necessary information;- Support continuous review of divisional risk profiles;- Support business and process improvement initiatives;- Proactively undertake research activities to provide insights, improvements and risk advise to senior management;- Support and monitor compliance activities;- Support business continuity planning;- Promote a continuous improvement culture, educate stakeholders on wider understanding of processes and risks;- Work effectively with divisional colleagues, central risk functions, internal and external audit and commit fully to meet deadlines; and- Contribute to drive productivity and efficiency improvements.

Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements.

About you:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing and tight-deadlines;- Strong knowledge of risk and control policies and frameworks within Financial Services, preferably in life insurance;- Sound understanding of good conduct in the product management context.- Knowledge of data governance and management processes;- Experience managing risks and providing assurance over technical projects and agile methodology;- Experience managing risks relating to business models and tools used for decision making;- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex matters in simple language;- 2 - 3 years’ experience in operational risk (first or second line) or audit within Financial Services, preferably in life insurance;- Able to work independently;- Able to challenge existing processes, document them and add value;- Proficiency with Microsoft tools such as Word and Excel;- Demonstrated data analysis and problem-solving skills;- Experience and comfort dealing with complexity and conceptual thinking;- Clear and articulate communicator; and- Able to build, maintain effective relationships and influence diverse range of stakeholders- Undergraduate qualification in business, finance or legal disciplines.
