The Canterbury Eye Service at Christchurch Hospital
provides acute and elective services at a secondary and tertiary level to the
people of Canterbury and Westland and provides tertiary level services to the South
Island and quaternary level to people of New Zealand.
Ophthalmology is a rewarding specialty with its mix
of patients from the very young to the elderly. We service a large pool
of patients and with that comes, high volume clinics supported by a large team
of 80 committed staff who enjoy what they do.
The key purpose of the role is to provide administrative co-ordination
of the Diabetic Screening programme work to Waitaha Canterbury standards (and
Ministry of Health targets) in conjunction with the Team Leader, Service Manager,
Clinical Director and Designated Diabetic Ophthalmologist
This role is based in Christchurch Hospital. This
role is permanent part-time working 36 hours per week.
In this role, you will be responsible for the coordination
of our diabetic screening service which comes with array of tasks as
below.. You will be familiar with the
public hospital system including the patient management system. This role is requires
great communication and organisation skills are imperative to your success for
this role.
**In this role, you will be responsible for**:
- Managing queries regarding
and waitlist position.
- Managing referrals for spoke Optometrists
- Ensuring Ministry of Health
Guidelines are followed
- Typing and uploading patient referrals and reports
- Coordinating appointments
- Ensuring all information is collated, patient records are complete
and managed
- Providing excellent customer service
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy
- Various administration tasks and support in other administrative
