At Department of Corrections, Ara Poutama Aotearoa, our success hinges on our people. The People & Capability group actively seeks and supports great talent, fostering a skilled and capable workforce dedicated to delivering positive outcomes for people in prison and the broader community.
The People and Capability team support a nationwide diverse team of 10,000 people working in a range of disciplines including custody, community corrections, psychology, nursing and corporate. Our job is to enable them to achieve our strategy, Hokai Rangi, through the 24/7 services we deliver.
The Director Capability Pathways works with the Director Talent and Leadership to ensure integration of leadership development approaches (Ara Rangatira). These approaches ensure that all capability pathways and all people objectives align with Hōkai Rangi.
This role will work alongside internal and external experts and leaders to create and implement nationally consistent pathways for enhancing people capability. They will tailor development to the department's unique needs and the evolving landscape of the public sector, fostering lifelong growth for our team members.

You are a Senior leader who has invested in, and driven, capability building in large organisations. You understand that increasing well-being is a key part of increasing capability and retention and you know how to bring people along on a journey.

**You bring the following in your kete**:
- Experience with change leadership and large-scale people transformation programme leadership
- Deep understanding of adult and modern learning principles and practice and proven successful experience in this field
- Demonstrated experience leading, coaching and mentoring others
- Strong level of cultural capability and awarenesses
- Ability to translate strategic plans into operational activities
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The mid-point of the salary range is $237,302 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $201,707- $284,763 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
