The Clinical Improvement Team is the delivery arm of the Quality Safety and Risk (QSR) function, delivering a wide range of projects that enables the clinical teams to deliver better quality and safer care for our patients and their whānau. The team is an important part of supporting better clinical care of our patients through better clinical documentation.
Clinical Coders use documentation in clinical records to assign codes from the International Classification of Diseases, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and the Australian Classification of Health Intervention (ACHI). They’re the building blocks that determine a Diagnostic Related Group (DRG) that is used to produce hospital casemix data, determine the complexity of a patient’s treatment and the reimbursement for inpatient admission.
