At the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) | Te P Whakamarumaru, we are dedicated to our mission of keeping Aotearoa New Zealand and our people safe and secure. We collect, analyse and assess intelligence which enables us to provide advice and guidance to protect New Zealand from threats such as foreign interference, espionage and terrorism.
We are looking for a Vetting Analyst to join our tight-knit, high performing team. If you are naturally inquisitive and enjoy working collaboratively to solve problems, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.
**About the role**
NZSIS has a statutory mandate to conduct security vetting in New Zealand on behalf of all government agencies. As a Vetting Analyst, you'll play a critical role in contributing to the security of New Zealand. Your day-to-day will involve conducting background investigations and assessing suitability for nominated government employees and contractors so they may hold a national security clearance.

**Who we're looking for**
This role will draw on your strong interpersonal skills and ability to gather and analyse information from multiple sources to make evidence backed assessments. You will also need to be discreet and demonstrate the ability to make assessments in a non-judgemental manner.
You will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience in investigative or information gathering and analysis work.
- Excellent oral and written communication style.
- An ability to make well informed and fair assessments.
- A high level of integrity and trustworthiness and a reputation for attention to detail.
- Excellent self-management skills with the ability to be flexible and prioritise in the face of a demanding workload.
**Before you apply**
Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.
You must:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
**The appointing range for this role is $73,684 - $78,596.
