- An exciting opportunity has risen within Ward M5 - Haematology and Oncology Inpatient Ward at Waikato Hospital for an experienced nurse wishing to advance their career into a leadership and management role.
- As the ACNM, you will collaborate closely with the Charge Nurse Manager (CNM) to drive organizational objectives and ensure that departmental standards consistently meet and exceed expectations. Your role will involve providing clinical leadership on the floor to bring about practice improvements, coaching, and guidance to the nursing team, contributing to the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the department.

**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
You will work alongside the Charge Nurse Manager, and be part of a dedicated team, fostering a culture of encouragement, support, and continuous development for our staff. As the ACNM, you will have an eye for detail, an interest in patient bed flow and the improvement of care quality outcomes. You will be working office hours on weekdays, with the occassional need to support ward staff afterhours or weekends as required.
- Key responsibilities of the role:
- Provide clinical leadership to establish and maintain a high standard of person-centred and whanau-centred care within the allocated resources.
- Role model expert clinical practice in the care and management of patients. Mentor staff to ensure high standards of care.
- Maintain a safe clinical and operational environment by promoting risk minimization activities. Participate in clinical and KPI audits and other quality and risk mitigating initiatives including accreditations, certifications, and incident reporting.
- Manage workflow and workload across the clinical area by ensuring appropriate staff skill mix, and contributing to efficient and safe patient flow, in and out, and in between clinical services.
- Involved in staff recruitment and development by maintaining staff portfolios and conducting staff appraisals.

**Mōu | About you**
- Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:
- Essential:
- Possess a current New Zealnd APC; Inclusive of scope of practice.
- Senior registered nurses with a minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience.
- Current Proficient or Expert level PDRP or evidence of working towards it. And once in the role will meet Senior Nurse Level of the PDRP.
- Relevant academic postgraduate qualifications or working towards a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of personal, professional and institutional behaviour through commitment, loyalty, and integrity.
- Strong communication and leadership skills complemented by your knowledge of, and experience in clinical quality, safety and best practice.
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action.
Preferred:
- Experience with Chemotherapy Administration.
- Computer Literacy at an intermediate level with proven ability in the use of Trendcare, Oracle, Taleo Recruitment or has the ability to support staff with the same.
Recent experience working on quality projects, clinical audits, and supporting teams through change

The 34-bed inpatient ward provides treatment and supportive cares to patients with a cancer diagnosis or blood disorders, requiring chemotherapy, autologous stem cecll transplants, radiation, palliative care, and treatment for non-malignant haematological disorders.
