**About this role | Mo tenei turanga**
This is a permanent, part-time (0.9FTE) role based at our Gisborne Office.
As an Early Intervention Teacher, you will play a critical role in our region's Learning Support team by;
- Supporting transition points in the child's learning pathway such as transition into early childhood and to school as required
- Providing high quality learning support in accordance with the guiding principles, strands, and goals of Te Whariki: Early Childhood Curriculum and Te Whariki a te Kohanga Reo
- Strengthening the capability of those who are best placed to support the learning of children
- Assessing, collaboratively planning, supporting, and monitoring the implementation of individual (or group) intervention plans.

**About you | Mohou ake**
To be successful you will need:
- A Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) or relevant tertiary qualification
- Post-graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: Early Intervention or the ability to attain this within four years of beginning in the position
- A minimum of three years' experience and a deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour
- An understanding of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for daily functioning in family life and for teaching and learning in the context of early childhood and family homes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with children, young people and their families and teachers across a diverse range of settings
- You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Maori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Maori.
- The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
**About our group and team | Matau ropu ake**
At Te Tahuhu o te Matauranga, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to akonga and whanau. To better deliver on this, we are currently undergoing an organisational design change. The transition phase to improve the way we deliver our purpose will be complete in 2023.
