In Medical Oncology at Timaru Hospital, we're building a future-focused health system grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi - one that delivers partnership, equity, and excellence for all. In South Canterbury, that vision comes to life through a team of dedicated physicians and nurses who bring a breadth of experience - and who now choose to call Timaru home.
2026 is going to be an exciting year of change in Timaru Medical Oncology as we expand our team and develop our model of care through New Medicines enabled funding.
**About you**
You'll bring New Zealand Vocational Registration (or be eligible for vocational registration) in Medical Oncology. Most importantly, you'll thrive in a team environment and value the variety and autonomy that comes with working in a smaller hospital setting.
We welcome Specialists trained in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia or those who have trained in similar healthcare systems globally.
This is a 0.5 FTE role and therefore you will need the right to work in New Zealand.
**Te Whatu Ora South Canterbury**
Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury is responsible for the delivery of services throughout the South Canterbury region and** Timaru Hospital**(131 beds) serves a district population of approximately 50,000 based in a General Hospital Facility, (which has just commenced a significant refurbishment programme), providing our local community with such critical 24/7 services as A&E, ICU/CCU, General, Orthopaedic, & ENT Surgery, O&G, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Geriatrics, Oncology & Palliative Care and Internal Medicine.
