About the Role
You’ll be part of our Engineering Team. You will be primarily responsible for AIT (Assembly, Integration and Testing) engineering for our in-space clients’ projects and the documentation of such activities. In addition to this, from time to time you’ll also work alongside our experienced engineers to help with other aspects of our engineering consulting work, which could include design, manufacture, presentations to clients, and the like.
Your role will include:
- Assembly and fit checking of electronic and mechanical systems
- Executing test plans and test procedures
- Writing test plans and procedures if needed
- Using a range of electronic testing equipment, such as power supplies and oscilloscopes
- Simple electronic design
- Measurement and Metrology
- Thorough documentation, including writing test reports and keeping log books
- Presenting to the client the outcome of testing, if needed
- Building jigs, fixtures, and supplementary designs to ease assembly
- Working in a clean room using PPE for extended periods of time
- Using your innovative mind and engineering skill set
- Executing the engineering life cycle
- Reporting to your manager and the team on a regular basis
- Asking for help if you need it
- Occasional admin and purchasing tasks, if needed
About You
You will:
- Have the ability to work independently and take initiative, while also enjoying working in a team
- Be confident working with tight and sometimes changing deadlines
- Be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed a degree (or equivalent) in one of the following fields: Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
- Understand the basic operations of general testing equipment, including power supplies and an oscilloscope
- Have an understanding of developing and executing test procedures
- Have experience using hand-tools to assemble and disassemble electromechanical systems
- Have great interpersonal and communication skills, and be fluent in English
- Have the ability to self-organise and raise issues/concerns with the team when needed
- Have a positive, can-do attitude and a strong desire to learn
To really blow our sock off, you would have:
- Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures
- Experience documenting the outcomes of test plans
- Experience creating jigs, fixtures, and supplementary designs to ease assembly
- An understanding of ESD precautions
- A passion for tinkering and getting systems working
- A keen attention to detail
- Have a desire to gain skills and experience uniquely suited to the aerospace industry.
- Electrical/Electronics Engineering experience pertaining to Printed Circuit Boards and/or Power Electronics
You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply. The internship will be primarily in the Asteria office, with occasional travel to our clients’ Christchurch-based offices when required. You must be able to transport yourself to and from the office and client’s offices.
