**The company and opportunity**:
My client is a lead trade and investment promotion agency, that works with export-capable businesses promoting their services in NZ.

An opportunity has opened for a 12-month fixed-term position in a regional organisation with strong links to the Blue Pacific. If you have a commercial background in the FMCG industry and have worked in trade promotion, have a good understanding of export readiness, have knowledge of consumer goods account management, have a link to a Pacific island country, and are passionate about helping Pacific SMEs grow their exports to New Zealand, then this could be a role for you.

They have an exciting opportunity for a Trade Development Officer to join their team based in New Market. The position is fixed term for one year with the possibility of extension depending on performance and resources.

**To be successful in this role**:

- You will need to have good Project management skills, consumer goods account management, being able to support SMEs with market entry intelligence, and evaluating the export capabilities of new clients from the Pacific.
- You should display knowledge of the New Zealand market for F&B, fresh, frozen root crops, fisheries including aquaculture, processed and semi-processed goods, have contacts with New Zealand importers, distributors and possess a good understanding of the opportunities in the New Zealand market which could be considered by the pacific exporting countries.
- The position may likely require domestic and international travel to the Pacific island countries to meet with clients in which case the person we seek must be fit for travel and have a valid NZ passport.
- Report to key stakeholders therefore the person we seek must have good writing skills, have the ability to think strategically, be able to offer solutions, and generally contribute to budget and work plans, strategic planning, and other staff-related activities.
- Have demonstrated project management experience and thrives in high-pressure environments where there are often competing priorities, tight timeframes, and tight budgets
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations, correspondence, and briefing materials
- Strong analytical capabilities, strategic thinking, and project management skills
- Energetic and entrepreneurial spirit, who is eager to find creative solutions to hard problems, roll up their sleeves across all types of tasks, and can thrive on limited day to day guidance
