Loctician/dreadlocks Maker

We are a dreadlocks and hair braiding salon located in Wellington. We specialise in dreadlocks installation and maintenance, box braids, Dutch braids, crotchet braids, twist braids, weaves, and cornrows. We also sell hair products online via our besthair.co.nz website.

Our new loctician will have:

- Experience in and skilled with dreadlocks making, making box braids, Dutch braids, crotchet braids, twist braids, weaves and cornrows and afro/kinky hair care.
- Knowledge of hair products for afro/kinky hair.
- Have an understanding of customised hand crafting wigs, hair systems and hair weaves.
- Experience with cutting, hair styling and shaving hair curly hair
- Marketing services provided by our company dreads n’ locks (e.g. dreadlocks making and maintenance, various types of hair braiding) and hair care and hair accessory products
- Experience in and skills with styling / cutting textured and curly hair care for both men and women
- Experience in managing a busy salon environment
- Expected is a high level of customer service delivery
- Salon accounting and client booking system management skills
- Stocktaking skills
- 2 years of relevant working experience

Duties will include:

- Installing new dreadlocks, maintaining established dreadlocks, making faux locs, cornrows, Dutch braids and box braiding.
- Experience with cutting, hair styling and shaving curly hair for men and women.
- Advising clients on hair products and hair care for afro/kinky hair.
- Create ongoing relationships with clients to ensure return visits.
- Assisting with product orders, monitoring inventory and reporting any shortages in a timely manner.

We are seeking to fill one permanent position based in Lower Hutt. You will be guaranteed at least 30 hours work per week. Working days are Tuesday - Saturday from 9.30am - 5.30pm or Wednesday to Sunday 9.30am - 5.30pm or Monday to Friday 9.30am-5.30pm. Salary will be set based on skills and experience within a pay range of $25 - $30 per hour.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 40 per week
