Auckland City, New Zealand New Zealand Government Full time

Our Infrastructure Regulation branch is looking for an experienced, intelligent, and inquisitive experienced Senior Analyst or Chief Adviser with strong writing and communication skills. You'll join a team that sets and reviews the regulatory rules for critical infrastructure that includes electricity lines companies, gas pipeline businesses, major international airports, and Fibre broadband. This is a close-knit team reporting into the Input Methodologies Manager, where you'll be recognised for your input and advice, and you would also be called upon to mentor and develop team members.

Find out more about our current project here. Based in either our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) or Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) office, this is a permanent position.

Mō te tūranga | About the role
The team you will join is responsible for the upfront rules we set that underpin our regulation of key infrastructure in NZ (electricity lines, gas pipelines, major international airports, and fibre broadband). These rules are called ‘input methodologies' and cover key aspects like how we value assets, allocate costs, share risk between businesses and consumers, and how businesses are compensated for their investments.
We're here for the long-term benefit of consumers and our rules and regulations perform important functions like limiting excessive profits and ensuring businesses have incentives to innovate and invest to deliver the services that their consumers demand.
You'll work on multiple projects within multi-disciplinary teams made up of lawyers, economists and technical specialists. You'll gather and critically analyse information, identify key issues, draw logical conclusions and present these back to our decision makers in written and oral form.

He kōrero mōu | About you
A true team player, you'll be experienced working in a fast-paced environment and bring a proactive and solutions-focused approach. You'll be able to think, write and communicate clearly, offer sound critical thinking skills and be comfortable presenting to stakeholders at all levels. A key part of the role will be breaking down complex information into key messages and chapters of our documents to communicate our decisions externally with clarity and accuracy.

**You will also bring the following**:

- the ability to prioritise, focus on high value outputs and resolve challenging
- able to work independently or with others as required
- relationship management skills
- a delivery focus, able to drive work forward and deliver tangible outcome
- policy or regulatory experience
- The ability to understand accounting and economic principles and interpret

We know that a diverse team with a range of life and work experiences enables high performance and innovation. Your work experience might include technical accounting analysis, economics, law or policy analysis.
A university degree in a relevant field (e.g. accounting, economics, commerce, law, engineering or science) is required.
For our more senior Chief Adviser role, you will have the opportunity to help shape strategic approaches too and will take pride in providing quality mentorship.
