**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent full-time Manu Tāiko - Associate Director, Cloud and Infrastructure.

As a key technical leader in our Te Tai Matihiko - Digital Solutions team, you will guide a technical team responsible for the road mapping, design, implementation, and maintenance of our infrastructure across Azure and M365. Your role is to ensure that the team provides stable and secure operations, supports product and project delivery, and drives continuous improvement through best practice DevOps approaches, including automation to achieve our university objectives. This role reports to the Chief Information Officer and has significant responsibilities across the following technology domains:

- Azure Infrastructure.
- Datacenter compute, storage and backup technologies.
- Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux.
- Directory and Messaging systems (AD and Exchange).
- Virtualization (VMWare and Nutanix).
- Network infrastructure (Cisco).
- Database’s (SQL and Oracle).

In this technical leadership role, you will have overall day to day accountability for:

- Provisioning, managing and maintaining a full array of technology platforms from bare metal infrastructure through to managing both the data center facilities and Azure Cloud Infrastructure.
- Regardless of whether the infrastructure is being managed internally or externally by our support partners, or service providers, the Cloud and Infrastructure team will ensure a fit for purpose, resilient infrastructure that meets the needs of students, staff and researchers.
- Managing all on premises and cloud infrastructure throughout their lifecycle to ensure they continue supporting the business in reaching their objectives, working closely with our Solution and Enterprise Architecture team.
- Optimise cloud services usage to minimise costs while maximising efficiency and performance.
- Supporting Product Delivery teams with implementation of new infrastructure, aligned to university strategy and priority.
- Support Project teams with all technical change requests, risks & issues, schedule detail and any governance support, and sign off all technical deliverables.

You will ideally have experience gained within a higher education sector organisation (or similar). Your natural people leadership skills will be essential for motivating and getting the best out of your team while also continuing to take them on the technology transformation journey.

Key requirements:

- Previous experience of cloud & digital department or group management.
- Previous strategic digital asset management experience.
- Good understanding of cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS etc.) and cloud platforms - especially Azure.
- Experience and understanding of server virtualisation, enterprise storage and enterprise networking.
- Experience working with cybersecurity principles and practices to ensure resilience of infrastructure and cloud services against cyberattack.
- Desirable to understand ITIL and ITSMF.
- Sound knowledge of Agile and DevOps Practices.
