**Tēnei tūranga - About the Role**:
We are looking for two policy advisors (either advisor or senior advisor) to help shape MBIE's contribution to economic transitions, including the transition to a low emission economy. You will work across different groups within MBIE and other government agencies to keep pace with climate change policies and to identify opportunities to support households, workers, communities and firms through the transition to a low-emissions and climate-resilient future.
You will have the opportunity to play a central role in developing Aotearoa’s Equitable Transitions Strategy. This Strategy is a key part of the Government’s wider climate change work programme and aims to deliver a well-signalled and inclusive transition to a low-emissions future that maximises opportunities, and minimises disruption and inequities. The development and delivery of the strategy will involve extensive public engagement, innovative policy development, and delivery of a research work programme.
What we do
The Transitions Strategy team leads, coordinates and integrates a strategic work programme to shape and respond to economic transitions in New Zealand, including the transition to a low emissions economy.
In addition to co-leading the development of the Equitable Transitions Strategy, the team provides a whole of economy perspective on the impacts of climate change, the transition to a low emissions economy and the implications for the future of Aotearoa’s economy and workforce. We work closely with teams within MBIE and across agencies who have an interest in climate change and labour market policy, drawing on different sets of knowledge and networks in order to provide coherent advice to Ministers.
Transitions Strategy is part of the Te Waka Pūtahitanga group, which works across MBIE and with other agencies to progress key cross cutting outcomes such as Māori Economic Development, Pasifika Economic Strategy, overall Economic Strategy, Regulatory Stewardship and Climate Change.
