The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) is a key part of the detection, prevention and investigation of a range of offences in New Zealand and overseas. We receive a vast amount of information from the private sector pursuant to the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act 2009 that provides leads and is used to support investigations.
As an Intelligence Support Officer, you will support the FIU in anti-money laundering efforts including the investigation of organised and transnational criminal groups and the disruption of terrorist financing. This includes working in a busy Wellington team to ensure quality information from reporting entities is available for use by intelligence and law enforcement practitioners.
**Key Accountabilities**:
Check Suspicious Activity Reports and Prescribed Transaction Reports submitted by reporting entities for data quality and identify any errors in reporting, completing rejection letters that clearly advise what those errors are
Verify the accuracy of information being collected and entered and ensure database records are corrected where any discrepancies are detected
Collect, analyse and escalate or disseminate information appropriately to assist decision makers
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external agencies including communicating with reporting entities both verbally and via the goAML message board
Contribute to a high performing team through ongoing support to your team

Good data entry skills, the ability to clean, sort and organise data and able to quickly learn and use new software
Demonstrate attention to detail to ensure data quality and accurate information is processed in a timely manner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Background in the financial sector is desirable but not essential
Ability to work in a team environment

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $74,748 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
