Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū is Ōtautahi Christchurch's public art gallery in the heart of the city, and home to one of Aotearoa's most important public art collections. This is a rare opportunity to join an experienced, dedicated and hardworking team in the largest art institution in Te Waipounamu.
The Design Store (retail) team is integral to the Gallery, helping to off-set operational costs by offering a vibrant and unique retail experience that stands out in the city. We develop a distinctive range of products inspired by our exhibitions and carefully select intriguing stock to create a merchandising experience that embodies the spirit of our Gallery. Exceptional customer service and manaakitanga are at the heart of what we do.
Our Gallery and Design Store are open seven days a week. We are developing our online presence and are excited about the potential of our webstore.
**The Retail Administrator closely supports the Retail Manager, and takes responsibility for**:
- Ensuring stock is processed, loaded, paid for and ready for display (instore and online) efficiently
- Handling accounts, invoices, royalty payments, banking and providing regular and accurate reports.
- Keeping track of stock on site and in our data management system
- Prioritising our fabulous customers through service excellence, including sales, targets and customer queries online and in store
- Supervising, informing and supporting the front of house team when needed.
- Assist with building and maintaining our webshop to gallery standards
**To be successful in this role you will**:
- Find systems, numbers, accurate spreadsheets and timely reports are your happy place.
- Be experienced in retail administration, stocktake and reconciliations, have a keen eye for detail and have a can-do attitude when approaching tasks
- Have excellent customer service, manaakitanga and interpersonal skills. Be kind, patient and genuinely interested in serving a diverse range of people. Humour, kindness and empathy are key to the success of this role
- Have 3 year's or more experience in a similar retail administrative environment
- A passion for the Gallery, visual arts, toi Māori or te ao Māori.
- Be proficient in the use of POS and webstores/websales. Ideally, you'll be experienced with Shopify, Excel, Teams and can train others.
