**The Service | Ko Te Whare O Peer Talk**

Peer Talk is a service that connects people in need of mental health support with Peer Support Workers over the phone between 5pm and midnight. It is one of several helpline services that constitute the National Telehealth Service.

It is run in collaboration with Whakaroungarau. They provide all the facilities of the call centre training on operating systems with a conditional option to work from home if approved.

If working from home you will need a fibre or broadband connection, Windows 10/11 computer with two monitors.

The training is done onsite in Auckland over a period of five days.

Peer Talk is available to everyone in the Te Whatu Ora - Health NZ (Counties Manukau area).

**Role | Nga mahi**

As a peer support worker, you will be using your own personal experience with mental health and recovery to support anyone phoning in. Peer talk is an effective way to overcome some of the barriers that make it difficult for people to access mental health care. This free phone-based service makes it easier for those in need to get help.

As a role model and peer, you will be inspiring hope through sharing parts of your own recovery journey with those who are looking at moving towards different choices and options in their lives.

**You will | Nga Pukenga**
- Have/Working towards a National Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 or equivalent
- Your own lived experience with mental health and recovery.
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
- Valid/Current work visa, residency, or citizenship
- Have a passion for walking along side those in need, supporting on-going goals on the pathway to recovery.
- PET (Peer Employment Training)
- WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)
- Up to date CV prepared
- Cover Letter detailing
