Downer’s Energy & Utilities business is seeking a **Site Engineer**to join our project delivery team in Christchurch, supporting critical infrastructure works for the **Department of Corrections**. This is a full-time, site-based role, perfect for a motivated engineer who thrives in fast-paced construction environments and values contributing to meaningful work. Reporting to the Project Engineer you’ll be part of a collaborative delivery team working on the design and construction of multiple facilities. **What You’ll Do**
- Setting out the works
- Liaising with the project planning manager regarding construction programmes
- Checking materials and work in progress for compliance with the specified requirements
- Observing safety requirements
- Resolving technical issues with suppliers and subcontractors
- Quality control in accordance with method statements, quality plans and inspection and test plans
- Liaising with the procurement team to define the specific requirements
- Measurement and valuation of work
- Providing data in relation to variations and site instructions
- Prepare record drawings, technical reports and maintaining a site diary

**What We’re Looking For**
- Tertiary qualification in engineering and minimum 5 years’ site-based experience
- Current Class 1 driver’s license
- Proven understanding of site safety, hazards, and control measures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office; AutoCAD/BIM experience a plus
- Preferred: experience in water infrastructure construction
