**Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role**

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking a Pasifika Engagement Adviser in a fixed-term, full-time role for 12 months. This position will be based in Te Wāhanga Waihanga-Hoahoa - Faculty of Architecture and Design Innovation and in the Pasifika Student Success Team within the Office of the Iho ā Kiwa - Assistant Vice-Chancellor, Pasifika.

The key responsibility of the role is to support Pasifika students at the University through:

- Delivering high quality academic and holistic support programmes aimed at retaining Pasifika students.
- Delivering events that support Pasifika student community building.
- Actively working and collaborating with Faculty staff to support the academic achievement of Pasifika students.

**Ō pūmanawa - About you**

You will be a highly motivated student-focused individual who has excellent people relationship skills. This role requires individuals with cultural competence and a good temperament.

Your strong self-management skills will mean you relish working autonomously, as well as contributing positively to the high performing Pasifika Student Success Team. The ability to demonstrate an understanding of the challenges that Pasifika students face in undertaking tertiary study is essential, along with initiative and a good work ethic.

Key requirements:

- A degree is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of Pacific cultures.
- Knowledge of the tertiary environment and issues relating to Pasifika students.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- A good understanding of data, and evidence-based decision making.
