**Store person - Afghan Bakery & Grocery Store (Full-Time)**
**Location**: Christchurch

Maihaan Supermarket and Halal Meat Limited, a well-established Afghan grocery store in Christchurch, is expanding and opening a new store featuring traditional Afghan bakery items, including fresh naan bread etc. We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Store person who can manage daily store operations and assist with bakery production.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and bake / cook Afghan naan bread and other traditional bakery items
- Manage day-to-day store operations, including stock management and customer service
- Check the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Inspect the quality of raw materials and weigh ingredients accurately
- Knead, mature, cut, mould, mix, and shape dough and pastry goods
- Monitor oven temperatures and product appearance to determine correct baking times
- Coordinate forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning, and cooling batches of bread, rolls, and pastry products
- Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures in absence of the store manager
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service including handling cash register operations - as and when required
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the store and bakery areas
- 3 yrs of previous experience in baking, preferably with flatbreads or traditional ethnic breads OR level 4 or above qualifications
- Can work independently and take initiative
- Is physically fit and capable of handling bakery and store duties
- Speaks Dari, Pashto, or other community languages (an advantage but not essential)
