The Visa Spend Clarity Operations and Infrastructure is a diverse multifaceted group. We care about site and data reliability, enabling Product Development efficiently run and observe our systems and provide exceptional support our customers and product integrations.

Our team members are located across Canada, England, New Zealand and United States. We are on a path to enhance our operational robustness and scale to meet high growth demands.

**What does a Principal Reliability Engineer does at Visa?**

You will be a unique and integral part of our team

This will be our most senior engineer role, and we are looking for someone who can help us achieve the following benefits:

- Drive innovation and champion change.
- Provide deep technical leadership for initiatives such as adopting Visa reliability, security, and compliance standards.
- Coach and mentor Specialist engineers to further develop our technical leadership capability.
- Improve our hiring and onboarding practices to attract and nurture outstanding engineers.
- Collaborate with engineering practice leaders across the business to promote engineering excellence.
- Learn and evolve from incidents and use data to improve our product and processes.

In addition to the contribution on the above areas, we expect this to be a hands-on, demonstrating leadership through high proficiency as an engineer, active mentoring of our reliability teams, holding yourself and others accountable for outcomes and bringing industry knowledge and curiosity to think big and challenge the status quo.

You will join our leadership team and work closely with engineering managers to deliver value whilst meeting our obligations, eliminating toil and supporting an engaging experience for our teams.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

**Qualifications**:
Basic Qualifications
10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
10-12+ years’ experience in a Software Development, Infrastructure or Operations roles
Technical leadership experience at a senior level
Microsoft stack (.NET, Windows Server and SQL Server) and AWS infrastructure
Comfortable working with and supporting organisational change
Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to adapt style and format to the situation and audience.
