Nau mai ki te Kuratini Tuwhera.** **Mō te tūnga | About the role** The Open Polytechnic is currently a business division of the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology, "Te Pūkenga". With the Government's decision to disestablish Te Pūkenga and re-establish a network of regional polytechnics, it means this will change once the Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill is passed. This Act will provide the legislative framework to proceed with changes to how vocational education and training is delivered within New Zealand. This role will provide key strategic support and advice to the Open Polytechnic's executive leadership team and other key stakeholders/leaders in developing and managing a number of organisational change related programmes of work, that will enable the Open Polytechnic to smoothly transition to being re-established from January 2026. The government is expected to shortly confirm which polytechnic's will be established as their own entities and which may be deemed a federation polytechnic. This position is fixed term for 12 months and is based at our campus in Lower Hutt, with some flexibility around working from home. **Key responsibilities include**: - Guiding the executive leadership team in effectively implementing the Open Polytechnic's organisational transitional initiatives, ensuring the executive leadership team is well informed, coordinated, prepared and have visibility of all activities and how they are progressing towards delivery to the agreed outcomes. - Overseeing multiple related projects and workstreams and ensuring alignment of these work programmes to legislative requirements and desired outcomes. - Ensuring all people and task initiatives that enable programme deliverables are achieved on time, to budget and achieve the desired results. - Being the the "go-to" person on progress updates, reporting, plans and documentation on these programmes of work. - Proactively identifying actual and potential risks to programme implementation and progress and recommending solutions to the relevant Executive Director(s) and key stakeholders or partners, to minimise or eliminate the risks. **Ngā pūkenga mo te tūnga | What you will bring to the role** The position description sets out in detail the experience, skills and competencies you will bring to this role, with the following deemed critical to your successful performance of role accountabilities: - Solid track record of project and/or programme management success in different types of projects including complex projects. - Deep knowledge of the principles, practices, methodologies and tools used when managing programmes of work, including change management principles and best practise. - Industry recognised certification in an applicable area preferred. - Demonstrated experience in influencing, coaching and motivating to achieve results. - Experience in managing and monitoring budget expenditure against approved budgets. - Proven experience in developing effective working relationships and networks, with a range of individuals and groups including executive level sponsors who are critical to achieving desired business outcomes. - Sound planning and organisation skills, including the ability to meet deadlines under pressure and to pivot quickly to respond to new or changed priorities. **Mō mātou | About us** The Kuratini Tuwhera is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading distance and online learning provider.
