**Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity**
The Specialist Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) is excited to be recruiting to a number of new positions that have been created in response to the national increase in prevalence and severity of eating disorders. These new positions will enable us to expand our levels of service provision to improve both accessibility to specialist eating disorder services and treatment outcomes for our tangata whaiora.
As a SEDS support worker, you will be required to support tāngata whaiora with a range of tasks in a variety of settings. This will include providing emotional and practical support for tāngata whaiora to do activities which are emotionally challenging for them such as grocery shopping or preparing and eating meals. At times, you may be required to support tangata whaiora on a medical ward - this would include providing meal support and engaging them in diversional activities to help make their inpatient stay less distressing. You will be working closely with SEDS clinicians and will be provided with ongoing training, supervision and professional development opportunities.

The Specialist Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) is a small multi-disciplinary team providing evidence based treatment and support to those experiencing complex and severe eating disorders. We work in a holistic way together with our tāngata whaiora, their whanau and communities. We also lead the Midland Region Expert Eating Disorder Hub and have been tasked with supporting and developing Eating Disorder services within the Midland Region.

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:
- National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work or equivalent
- Interest and/or experience in working with clients and families affected by eating disorders and/or other mental health problems.
- Ability to contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience working with people who have emotional challenges.
- Full New Zealand drivers licence
