**About the Role**

The Newborn Hearing Screening team has an opportunity for someone to join the team providing hearing screening to newborn pēpi. No prior experience is required, but ideally you will have had experience handling and caring for newborn pēpi. Full training is provided as part of the introduction to the role, and you will receive support to complete the NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Newborn Hearing Screening over the first year.

Key responsibilities of the role:

- Undertaking hearing screening of pēpi
- Communicate with mothers and their whānau
- Communicate with other health and maternity staff
- Input data on to a computer system
- Contact whānau to organise hearing screening appointments

This permanent position is based at Waikato Hospital and includes working weekends on a roster basis (one or two weekend days per month).

**About the Team/Service**
- The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening programme provides hearing screening of pēpi. The team provides screening services seven days per week for newborn infants in the Waikato hospital maternity service, Hamilton birth centres, and community clinics around the Waikato region._

**About you**

Skills and experience you’ll need to be considered for the role:

- a current full New Zealand driver's licence
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- the ability to work well in a team
- computer literacy (data entry skills and Microsoft Office)

Ideally you will also have:

- Have completed, or working towards the NZQA New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) in Newborn Hearing Screening.
- experience handling or caring for newborn babies
- experience working in the health or education sector
- administration experience
