Auckland City, New Zealand Auckland Council Full time

**He angitūtanga: The opportunity**

**Sport & Recreation Lead**

Auckland's unique environment, with a diverse and growing population and an expansive sport and recreation facility network (including 2,000+ community sport and recreation groups, 4,000+ parks and 500+ schools), provides many opportunities for Aucklanders to get active.

Sport & Recreation Leads deliver a programme of locally and regionally funded partnership projects, including the following grants for facility development and operations:

- Sport and Recreation Facilities Investment Fund
- Sport and Recreation Facilities Operating Grant

In this role you will help to implement council sport and recreation policy, lead sport and recreation planning projects and take an evidence-based approach to providing quality advice to elected members and council departments. You’ll create and support innovative partnership projects, build strong relationships and create tools that build community capability and confidence.

**He kōrero mōu: About you**

We're looking for critical thinkers with experience in facility development, facility operation, policy implementation, contract management and/or network planning. A relevant tertiary qualification is expected, and good knowledge of the construction and/or sport and recreation sectors is desirable.

On any given day you might be meeting with community volunteers, regional or national sports organisations, Ministry of Education, Sport New Zealand, Regional Sports Trusts, elected members and council staff. You will be comfortable building strong working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders.

Naturally, you'll be a team player with excellent written and oral communication skills and above all, a passion for sport and recreation.

**Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer**

This is a great opportunity to join a fun, highly motivated team with a track record of delivery and collaboration. Work on a variety of challenging projects which will keep your work fresh and exciting.
