**About Orion**:
We’re here to power a cleaner and brighter future with our community and New Zealand. Working for Orion means joining a locally-owned, best-in-class electricity distribution business that enables energy choice and supports decarbonising our region. People matter to us, we care deeply about our people, the public and the community we serve striving towards a sustainable future for generations to come.
**The role**:
This newly created role of Head of Community Energy Services, reporting directly to the General Manager Energy Futures, reflects Orion’s focus on enabling our customers and communities to equitably participate in and benefit from the transition to a resilient, low carbon energy future. This role will lead our work with local communities, partners and stakeholders to develop high impact models and services which put local power in the hands of local people. This role has the potential to create significant positive impact by demonstrating and realising the synergies between a locally-owned electricity distribution business and community energy models and outcomes. This is your opportunity to make it all it can be.
**A little more about the role**:
- Engage with communities and stakeholders to understand their needs and aspirations; grow interest in community energy models and support community-led energy initiatives.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to co-create a strategic approach to activate and grow community energy in our region, leveraging and contributing to broader national initiatives.
- Lead the development of new business / social enterprise models and services which demystify energy and enable households and communities to optimise their energy outcomes and equitably participate in the energy transition.
- Provide practical support and advice to communities to develop their own renewable energy projects and community-owned assets, which provide affordable energy, an income for the local community, and / or opportunities for local people and organisations to invest.
**A little more about you**:
You will be highly motivated and competent to lead, enable and support bold, innovative action towards community energy outcomes in mid-Canterbury and beyond. You may have spent your career in the energy sector, or supporting community economic development, or have a more diverse cross-sector background relevant to this role.
Some of the things we’ll be considering:
- A deeply collaborative, servant leadership style
