Little Makos Swim School currently operates out of two small swim facilities based at **Berhampore School &** **Miramar North School Pools in Wellington.**We have jobs available at both facilities and instructors are able to work across the two facilities if needed. We are dedicated to providing quality Learn to Swim instruction to children aged from 6 months of age to 12 years of age.

We are currently recruiting experienced part time swim instructors to work on our friendly small team providing quality swim instruction. The roles will initially be primarily based at Miramar North School Pool facility but will have the potential in future school terms to be across the facilities.

We are looking for instructors that have taught for a minimum of 6 months and are ready to hit the ground running with their own classes in Term 3, however there could be an opportunity to train up the right applicate depending on other teaching/coaching experience in term 3 with a view to taking your own classes in Term 4.

Our classes run seven days a week with shifts between 9am - 7pm weekdays and 8am - 2pm on Weekends. Shifts are rostered each term so if university commitments change the shifts for a particular term will as well.
One weekend shift is usually expected of all our swim instructors as this is predominately where most of the work is available. This coming term starting in July it will be a Sunday shift that will be required of the successful applicant.
Hours can range from 5-20 hours per week.

All of our classes are taught from in the water for the duration of your shift and we do provide you with a wet-suit & rash vest as a uniform to teach in.
Our pools are heated to 32 degrees celsius awe operate all 4 school terms of the year and do run holiday intensives in each holiday break. School terms are usually 10 weeks in duration.
We pride ourselves on offering classes that are relaxed with great structure in a very conducive environment for teaching.

**Your key responsibilities in this role are the following**:

- To instruct learn to swim lessons for children aged from 6 months of age - 12 years of age at all levels of the spectrum from those beginning their swimming journey to those who can swim for up to 30 minutes and all 4 strokes.
- To plan your lessons to focus on the key aims and objectives of our swim school and each individual level.
- To assess each of your students at the end of each term to assist with the individualised approach we take to the re-booking process.
- To be able to communicate effectively with all of our customers including swimmers, their parents and with team members at Little Makos Swim School.

**Skills and experience**:
In this role the successful applicant will need to have the ability to self manage and be both reliable and punctual. They must have enthusiasm for teaching children to swim and a willingness to learn and take instruction. You will be working in a small team environment and we would expect you to be able to communicate with your fellow team members and to be an important part of our swim school team.

A current first aid certificate & experience in teaching swimming are preferred.

Please note that this role would start in Term 3 of the 2025 school year from Monday 14th July. However, depending on the experience of the instructor you may be able to start this term with some shifts to get into the swing of our swim school or to help us cover staff absences.
