At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.
We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group
Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko | Infrastructure & Digital - Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system.

The Infrastructure Procurement team is a vibrant and diverse team, where no two days are the same. We work together with our partners to deliver effective, inclusive procurement solutions, which support the vision for school property.
Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
The Principal Procurement Specialist - Infrastructure shapes procurement solutions which maximise the benefits and outcomes that the Ministry and schools receive from their expenditure, contributing to the growth of future generations in New Zealand.
You will also lead a variety of high value/complexity procurements across our property portfolio; working collaboratively to undertake needs analysis, developing sourcing strategies, delivering procurement plans, managing and developing better processes, leading evaluations; facilitating contract negotiation and award processes. Last financial year the Infrastructure Procurement - Central team's Procurement Specialists ran a variety of procurements, worth more than $300 million.

Mōhou ake | About you
**You will also offer**:
- Preferably understanding of and experience with construction procurement (works and professional services);
- Good commercial nous - an understanding of what drives good service value and how to identify and minimise key commercial risks;
- The ability to build effective working relationships with key stakeholders;
- The ability to prioritise and multi-task in a fast paced, dynamic environment;
- Great attention to detail;
- Excellent and effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Preferably experience contributing to leading and developing other members of a team;
- Full Member (Level 6 / MCIPS) or eligible or working towards Associate Member (Level 4) of CIPS and/or a relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting;
- Understanding of the impact of regulatory or legislative issues including, the Resource Management Act, Building Act, Public Works Act, in the development of public private partnerships in a New Zealand context; and
- Understanding of political environments, particularly engagement with senior managers, Ministers and their offices.
